​Expertise
Jeremy is Senior Counsel with ERI and has extensive experience of advising on legal issues relating to the construction, energy and projects sectors on a domestic and international level.
His experience includes advising clients on the drafting and negotiation of contracts (including both standard form contracts (JCT/NEC/FIDIC/LOGIC) and bespoke forms of contract), professional consultancy appointments, novation deeds, collateral warranties, security documents, facilities management contracts and supply agreements. He has also advised on Public/Private Partnership projects relating to the education, health, police and fire, infrastructure and waste sectors. He gave evidence to the Welsh Government on the potential use of Public Private Models in Wales in delivering infrastructure projects.
He also has particular experience in the management of disputes including the preparation of claims, risk analysis, strategic advice, adjudication, arbitration and litigation. He is also a trained mediator with the ADR Group.
Jeremy’s experience also extends to advising clients on energy projects including wind, solar, tidal, hydro and waste projects.
His international work has included working in the Nordic countries, the Middle East and South Africa.
Notable matters in which Jeremy has been involved include:

Advising on the Macob – v – Morrison case which related to the first enforcement of an adjudication award in the courts of England and Wales.

Advising the National Assembly for Wales in relation to drafting and negotiation of the construction documentation relating to the Debating Chamber which was one of the most high profile projects in Wales in recent years.

Advising Wembley National Stadium Limited on construction aspects of the redevelopment of Wembley Stadium.

Advising Tidal Energy Limited in relation to the development and testing of a prototype demonstrator tidal stream project off the Welsh coast including advising on the on-shore and off-shore contracts (based on LOGIC forms of contract). This is the first project of its type in Wales.

Advising the Spanish waste company, Urbaser, on the drafting and negotiation of the Project Agreement and associated documentation in respect of the Gloucester County Council waste to energy project.

Advising various Developers of wind farms projects in Wales including the EPC, turbine supply, civil and electrical/mechanical, operation and maintenance contracts.

​Career
Admitted as a solicitor in 1988 Jeremy began his career in construction law with international law firm Linklaters in London before heading up the construction team at a major law firm. He then worked for a leading Nordic law firm on international cross border corporate and commercial matters including clients such as Nokia. He later established his own niche law firm specialising in construction, engineering, energy and major projects work before joining ERI.
